2022 Focus Albemarle Girls Lacrosse League

Focus AGLL is excited to offer a recreational lacrosse experience in Charlottesville for all 5-8th grade girls. Like the AGFHL, the AGLL will have a standard curriculum, updated organization and communication and a flexible game schedule all to allow for maximum improvement and fun for everyone! These games will be mixed across regions to build community, to allow the girls to learn from different coaches, and to encourage competitive games.

We recognize that rec play has a variety of skill levels represented, and we will strive to challenge each player to grow not only lacrosse wise but as a person as well.  We can’t wait to grow lacrosse in Charlottesville and hope you will join us!

The 2022 league will start on Sunday, March 13th with a kickoff clinic and run through early May.

Practices will be from 6:30-7:45pm on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Covenant Upper School Campus.  Monday/Wednesday practices begin on 3/14 and run through May 4th.  There will not be practice on 4/4 or 4/6.

Coached scrimmages/games will be held on Sunday afternoons at Monticello High School in the timeframe between 3-6pm.  The Sunday dates are 3/13, 3/20, 3/27, 4/10, 4/24, and 5/1.   We will not play on 4/3 or 4/17.  We will send out the exact times once we get closer to the season.

Equipment needed: stick, goggles, mouthguard, cleats recommended.

Optional Rec Playday in Lexington on April 30th - 7v7 format.  Registration will be in March.  We will form multiple teams if possible.

Optional Rec Playday in Richmond on Saturday 5/14 for 5/6th and 7/8th: $25 Spots may be limited and will be taken on a first registered basis.  There will be equal playing time across the three games which will be at least a half per game.  Three 30 minute games and a possible 4th.  There will be no refunds if unable to attend once committed because this is a fee to play playday and we need to apply for team spots.  We will form multiple teams if possible.

weather/emergency communication

  • Severe weather or facilities issues that are out of our control occasionally affect our club. Whenever practice or game times have to be changed, the practice group affected will be notified via email.

  • We do not typically cancel practices for hot or cold weather, although we do follow suggested guidelines for water breaks once a certain heat index is met. It is the athlete's responsibility to prepare for and dress appropriately for all sessions, and to bring appropriate amounts of water to the session.

  • We do cancel/reschedule practices for dangerous weather such as lightning within mileage deemed dangerous by the facility, ice on the roads, etc. Every effort is made to make changes as far in advance as possible, but sometimes this can be tricky, as we don't want to cancel unnecessarily. For lightning that pops up unexpectedly, we require that all athletes report back to a car or the closest shelter for 20 minutes (or time required by the facility) and we resume once it is clear.
